One boy's long road to recovery. Matthew was born two months premature with a rare fourfold heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's, and Ventricular Septal Defect. He's had two open heart surgeries and will need additional heart surgeries in the future. To appreciate the absolute miracle of this "3 plus million dollar boy", you'd need to look into the "Archives" beginning after his first 9 hr open heart surgery at Stanford, August 2005.

Matthew has all his mommy and daddy's moves down. He knows that keys are for opening doors. He knows which lock needs to be worked on to open the door. I was there when these pictures were taken. When he couldn't accomplish the task at hand with this set of keys, he came over and got mine. He's no dummy.
Matthew is not easily distracted away from what he wants to do. If your head gets in the way when he is watching TV, he will move your head aside without even a blink or glance your way. He has always been a very focused little boy. I think he is exceptionally smart for his age.
Good family genes!!!!! ha ha
