Here is a perfect smile to start your morning. Posted by Picasa

The gnawing of the fist is a sure sign my boy is getting hungry. Posted by Picasa

Bedtime is quite an operation. First Matthew gets his 9pm medications. Then we disconnect and move his oxygen machine into our bedroom. This machine produces quite a bit of heat and noise. Therefore we close it in the bathroom. To insure the dogs don't trip over the tube (again) we run the tube behind the closet doors over towards his bassinet. Then we re-attach Matthew to his oxygen and hook up his feeding machine at the same time. The machine is invaluable but time consuming to set up. Terri feels better when we vent Matthew's G-tube while feeding him so he doesn't get an uncomfortable build-up of gas in his stomach. If you look to the right edge of this picture you can see the hanging syringe with the orange tip of the feeding drip line in it. This works well but makes late night diaper changes a reel chore.

Smiles like this one may become rare in the next few days. Today we start Matthew's "weaning schedule". We have been on hold during the transition to home but now it is time to lower his pain meds. He may experience mild withdrawal symptoms.

Matthew wasn't too sure about being in his swing today. Posted by Picasa

Mommy reassures Matthew that the swing was built for having fun.

Dr. Mayman gave Matthew a very thorough Echocardiogram. Everything looks good except a little narrowing in his newly-made artery. As a result, Mathew will have to undergo another Heart Cath towards the end of November. It is a one day procedure that will map and measure pressures inside his heart. Posted by Picasa

Matthew slept until 5am again. First thing this morning we watched a woodworking show together while Mommy was in the shower. Posted by Picasa

To the left you can see Matthew's overnight feeding machine. To keep the breast milk from souring, we have to get up twice a night to replenish the feed bag.  Posted by Picasa

We swaddled Matthew in his hooded bath towel to dry him off and keep him warm. Posted by Picasa

Matthew was all smiles at his doctor's visit early this morning. Been there, done that. Posted by Picasa

Matthew got his own private waiting room at Dr. Tenby's office this morning. The traditional waiting room is hazardous to his weakened immune system. Posted by Picasa

Matthew and Dr. Michael Tenby (his Pediatrician) on his first visit. All was well. Posted by Picasa
