Oh how I LOVE THIS!!

*lol* Notice the contrast of our faces... one is gleeful bliss, the other... not so much.

Oh how I wish I'd had this alllll along.

A friend from Beaver is letting me borrow "the monkey" leash ...

I can actually stop and talk to someone now w/o Matthew running off like he does ~ he's just too heavy to hold all the time. Honestly, you can't take your eye off him one second up there... he could get lost very easily in the woods.

This sure makes it a lot easier to run back and forth to the cabin... OH MY...
I was just tickled pink when they handed it to me...

My sister Kim didn't like the idea one bit ... but, my Mom liked it too...
Now remember, Kim hasn't had kids and my mom has had four ... *smile*
so sheeee understands what it's like to chase after these monkeys all day long.
*LOL*

I think it's an EXCELLENT idea. I used one for 2-3 of my kids.... it is better to be safe than sorry! I have had women tell me off for "tying my kid up", "walking the kid like a dog" etc etc.... but as you said, they ain't had a kid so I always said "Shut up till you know what you are talking about"! Do gooders/know-it-all's drive me nuts!

I love it. When we took Ben to the fair we saw one and Matt and I both agreed we wanted one!!

Yep, don't like. When Matthew was at my house for Thanksgiving, I just handed him the leash and told him to watch himself. He did a pretty good job. Now, I would not be opposed to using this on some adults! :)

I could see people getting irritated if I just hooked him up to a tree and left him....

but when we're outside trying to walk somewhere.... it's not a big deal.... it just keeps me going where I want to go... not where Matthew wants to go... and he likes going where he's not supposed to go.... lol

THE LOOK ON HIS FACE IN THE LAST PICTURE CRACKS ME UP , I'M WITH KIM . BUT THE 1ST PRIORITY IS TO KEEP HIM SAFE , SO PUT THE MONKEY ON HIS BACK.

The look on his face is priceless! He's thinking, WHAT? A LEASH? Are you kidding?

I love it. May as well add cuteness to something that also serves a purpose! :)

ha! Great minds think alike. We have one for christopher and they're
awesome! People dont make rude comments with them like the other leashes.
Heck some folks make the comment he has a monkey on his back....

In this day and age you cannot take your eyes off your kids for a moment. Matthew dashes off and is so fast that it is hard to keep up with him. I'm all for the leash and wish I had several when my kids were little. It is a vital safety feature when the King Trio is up in Beaver. The woods are thick and I get lost up there. I would hate to think of Matthew experiencing the panic and fear. Not to mention the rest of us.

We have one for christopher. He is ALL boy and dashes off in teh mall and other places. Its great for keeping him in control, but giving him a degree of freedom to explore.

Every person who has seen him smiles and makes cute comments like "he has a monkey on his back"

Like grandma said, you cant take your eyes off him for a second. He sounds just like christopher.

I think it's a great idea. And to put a monkey on his back - that is hilarious!

You can get them at WalMart...
and I guess they have different animals, too...

I happen to love the monkey!!

so funny. except that we've already used these same monkies with our boys! (or at least my sister did when she took them BOTH by herself, to the circus!) me and justin weren't in town and too nervous for her to take them so she bought the monkies :)

she swears by them too! ha!

I tried one of those on Luke when we went to Disney Land...didn't work,he threw a fit! I think it's a great idea, especially to keep him from wandering in the woods! Glad to hear Matthew is eating and talking!!! Sounds like he is doing great! Love ya!

It's so cute, I love the monkey attached to it. I think it's a good idea. It gives children a little freedom and parents the safety they want. I think safety is so important, and I know Matthew is very quick :)

I love it! As moms of boys, we have to do whatever it takes to keep these wild ones close to us!

So cute!

I think it's exactly what you needed if you were talking about "the leash" :)

It may help him learn to stay close by if it's not his favorite thing to wear (i.e. "if I run off the monkey goes on").

I love all the other recent pics and news too--so exciting about the food, communication, and potty-training!

I'm not a fan either Auntie Kim :) I'd rather teach them to stay close than tie them up. I figure since I can't always tie them up, they need to learn to listen and not run off. If you put too much faith in the leash, it's that one time they aren't on the leash and you forget that's a problem.

<--Reaches for Auntie Kim's bribe money :)

We have the same monkey leash. I haven't used it yet but I'm sure I will here soon. So glad everyone is doing well.
