One boy's long road to recovery. Matthew was born two months premature with a rare fourfold heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's, and Ventricular Septal Defect. He's had two open heart surgeries and will need additional heart surgeries in the future. To appreciate the absolute miracle of this "3 plus million dollar boy", you'd need to look into the "Archives" beginning after his first 9 hr open heart surgery at Stanford, August 2005.

It was a wonderful Thanksgiving being all together. Matthew seemed to have the "best time" of all.
From the moment he arrived he maintained a party spirit and entertained the group. He happily went from one family member to the other. Often he would back up and wanted to be picked up. He truly knows how to "work a crowd" with his charm. I think he learned that in the hospitals. The goodness and kindness of all his nurses prepared well for life's social gatherings. See, it wasn't all bad. Matthew learned from the best.
Love you sweet baby, grandma w
