Some of you may remember our friends Dan, Lucy, and Alison Jiang from San Jose, CA. We met them at UC Stanford during Matthew's first surgery. Their Daughter, Alison, was born with a heart defect similar to Matthew's and she recovered from her 2nd surgery in the bed next to Matthew's. The Jiangs found out last week that Alison has some constriction in her branches and will undergo another open heart surgery on Tuesday. We posted a letter on August 18th from Anna Jaworski on what it means to be the parent of a "heart kid". In addition to her experiences we must add the apprehension you feel with every visit to the cardiologist. Every time your child undergoes an echocardiogram, you must be prepared to be told they need another surgery. Terri and I would like to ask all of our tremendous "Prayer Warriors" to keep the Jiangs in your thoughts and prayers this week.

Yes, please offer the Jiang's up in prayer .... the news came as quite a shock to them .... they were not expecting another heart surgery sooo soon.... Alison was not symptomatic, Lucy and Dan just took Alison in for a routine ECHO...
What is happening to Dan & Lucy is one of our biggest fears. I feel so bad for them.. They are such an adorable family... we became good friends w/ them while we were at Stanford... and we stay in touch to this day. Us "heart parents" have a common bond that most people could never understand. My heart just sinks when I think about another heart surgery... I know what they are feeling! We had that same news only 4 months after Matthew's first open heart.

All is well w/ Alison...
she had about a 6 to 7 hour surgery... she's recovering well...
they were able to put a new valve that was quite a bit bigger....
She is
very heavily sedated from what Lucy says... that's good, keep them asleep and calm!
