One boy's long road to recovery. Matthew was born two months premature with a rare fourfold heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's, and Ventricular Septal Defect. He's had two open heart surgeries and will need additional heart surgeries in the future. To appreciate the absolute miracle of this "3 plus million dollar boy", you'd need to look into the "Archives" beginning after his first 9 hr open heart surgery at Stanford, August 2005.

I know this picture makes you happy Michael. You always loved books and Matthew will be just the same. With you and Terri reading to him all the time, how could he not love books. Before long, he will be reading stories to you.
Love, Mom (Grandma Sue)
Grandma Sue I must tell you that Matthew is already attempting to read to us. He holds his books up and jabbers away, pointing at objects the way mommy and daddy do. We listen intently and he is quite pleased that he is entertaining his audience. He does not get bored during story time & being read to him. He listens with devote concentration until the ending of a story.
I hope the four new books he just ordered over the internet are interesting and amusing for him. Ha Ha. You just have to watch him every minute. Hee Hee. Me Bad! Love you my little book worm, grandma w
OMG he is so cute!
