One boy's long road to recovery. Matthew was born two months premature with a rare fourfold heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's, and Ventricular Septal Defect. He's had two open heart surgeries and will need additional heart surgeries in the future. To appreciate the absolute miracle of this "3 plus million dollar boy", you'd need to look into the "Archives" beginning after his first 9 hr open heart surgery at Stanford, August 2005.

Daniel stayed with Matthew on the way up and again on the way down. Matthew trusted his cousin to help him down. Matthew would no sooner hit the bottom step and he was right back up again. Matthew's energy level was high. When he wasn't climbing the steps he was walking, non stop, throughout the big house. Matthew was the center of attention and never once saw the inside of a playpen or cried. That's what Christmas is all about, isn't it. It was a super fun day for all ages in the house. Gosh, this is fun seeing these pictures and reliving that day.... Thanks, Michael and Terri for the wonderful job you did capturing this wonderful Christmas 2005. It was a "Kodak" day. Love grandma w
