One boy's long road to recovery. Matthew was born two months premature with a rare fourfold heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's, and Ventricular Septal Defect. He's had two open heart surgeries and will need additional heart surgeries in the future. To appreciate the absolute miracle of this "3 plus million dollar boy", you'd need to look into the "Archives" beginning after his first 9 hr open heart surgery at Stanford, August 2005.

Wow! here is our little guy at the top of the 2 wooden steps. I see grandma w in the background, so I know someone was right there ready for him. You can see him "thinking" about the descent. It looked a long ways down and it was for his short little legs. I think he turned here and zoomed off into the kitchen. There is definitely a serious and thoughtful side to Matthew and a healthy respect for his own capabilities. This shows he is smarter than sometimes baby's are given credit for at his age. You are such a beautiful little boy and to see you hurt or cry breaks grandma's heart. Love you sweet baby, grandma w
I loved the "Run Run Rudolph" video with Matthew running all over the place. He is such a sweetie! Thanks for sharing.
