One boy's long road to recovery. Matthew was born two months premature with a rare fourfold heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's, and Ventricular Septal Defect. He's had two open heart surgeries and will need additional heart surgeries in the future. To appreciate the absolute miracle of this "3 plus million dollar boy", you'd need to look into the "Archives" beginning after his first 9 hr open heart surgery at Stanford, August 2005.

I bet he will be interested in books forever. He certainly has a great start. His darling smile just shows the enjoyment he is having. Good work Mommy & Daddy.
Love, Grandma Sue
Not to worry, dad! That coffee table is full of books that do not have lights, but lots of color. You are the one who got him started on books by reading to him while he was in the hospital. He has a great love for books and music. Mattew's home and environment is full of love and children his age books. The environment he is going up in has already inspired him to develop at an amazing rate. He is right up there where he should be for 16 months. You and mommy will always be remembered for taking an "almost" impossible situation and turning it into something wonderful, positive and good for not only Matthew, but a lot of people with the same kind of needs. I am so proud of the King Trio.........
