One boy's long road to recovery. Matthew was born two months premature with a rare fourfold heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's, and Ventricular Septal Defect. He's had two open heart surgeries and will need additional heart surgeries in the future.
To appreciate the absolute miracle of this "3 plus million dollar boy", you'd need to look into the "Archives" beginning after his first 9 hr open heart surgery at Stanford, August 2005.

This was in 1965, Terri was 5 years old. The picture from left to right, is me, Danny and Terri. Please refrain from commenting on Terri's shoes... she hated them :)
Aren't those the cutest kids. Those red shoes were very expensive corrective shoes. It would have been much cheaper to put you in a Mary Jane; but we wanted you to grow up perfect. You used those heavy shoes as weapons when you were young. They had steel shanks and are probably illegal these days with all the safety features. Ha Ha
Okay.. I won't say anything about you getting the adorable Mary Jane shoes and me getting the clunky Sride Rites...
