One boy's long road to recovery. Matthew was born two months premature with a rare fourfold heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's, and Ventricular Septal Defect. He's had two open heart surgeries and will need additional heart surgeries in the future.
To appreciate the absolute miracle of this "3 plus million dollar boy", you'd need to look into the "Archives" beginning after his first 9 hr open heart surgery at Stanford, August 2005.
I read your notes on your Steel Magnolia Blog and just can't believe they have had him there all day. Then the equipment malfunctions - that's terrible.
I'm glad you were able to spend a good portion of your day with him. I know you would probably like to have a bed right next to him. That's the way Mom's are.
I hope Casey will feel good when he wakes up and hope they can give you and Casey some positive news to keep you going until January when they will do the next procedure.

After it malfunctioned, they decided to not repair after all.
