One boy's long road to recovery. Matthew was born two months premature with a rare fourfold heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's, and Ventricular Septal Defect. He's had two open heart surgeries and will need additional heart surgeries in the future. To appreciate the absolute miracle of this "3 plus million dollar boy", you'd need to look into the "Archives" beginning after his first 9 hr open heart surgery at Stanford, August 2005.

From Matthew's Daddy: There are hills, valleys, and plateaus along the road to Matthew's recovery. Today we walked on the plateau. He had a fever and seemed to be laboring to breathe. The nurses took cultures of blood, urine, and mucous to test. The doctors are curious what could cause a fever while he is already on Antibiodics. This will almost certainly delay the placement of his Broviack (sp?) line that he needs for access. Terri is worried that we are on the eve of another setback. Faith and patience be with us.
Hello from Grandma Susan. Matthew has brought joy to the lives of so many people and will continue to do so. He is a brave little soldier and faces each challenge put before him. God love him and keep him safe and well.
