One boy's long road to recovery. Matthew was born two months premature with a rare fourfold heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's, and Ventricular Septal Defect. He's had two open heart surgeries and will need additional heart surgeries in the future.
To appreciate the absolute miracle of this "3 plus million dollar boy", you'd need to look into the "Archives" beginning after his first 9 hr open heart surgery at Stanford, August 2005.

Last weekend we traveled to California for Grandma Sue's Birthday. As always, my longtime friends (from High School) Johnny, Cheryl, & Ali Hazelwood, were gracious enough to have us as their guests. So what happens when boy...
He looks like he's really having fun. He gets the toy to himself for a little bit anyway, but I think someone is sneaking up behind him. Why it's the beautiful Ali.
What a cutie. Spending the day with Matthew on Saturday and having the whole family see how cute he is and how big he has gotten was absolutely wonderful.
Matthew has a secret! He's going to Grandma Sue's birthday party in California, and she doesn't know he's there. Johnny and Michael's lifelong friendship has extended into the next generation. Ali and Matthew are going to be lifelong friends too. Happy Birthday Grandma Sue from you Las Vegas "other" family! :) Love you sweet baby, grandma w
