One boy's long road to recovery. Matthew was born two months premature with a rare fourfold heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's, and Ventricular Septal Defect. He's had two open heart surgeries and will need additional heart surgeries in the future.
To appreciate the absolute miracle of this "3 plus million dollar boy", you'd need to look into the "Archives" beginning after his first 9 hr open heart surgery at Stanford, August 2005.

We saw Dr. Hanley yesterday on our way out of the CVICU. Yes, the halo is still there. Look close, this is the man who saved my son's life. Oh and Kim, Terri said she still hears the angels singing in the background when he's around.
Dear Mike and Terri, Matthew looks terrific!! And you two look like the happiest and proudest parents alive. I'm glad things are going well. Please let me know when you're back at Sunrise Hospital. I'm supposed to work there on Friday the 23rd. I sure hope to see you all there. Take care.......Sandra
